Jason, who handles the home showing and selling for the duo, whips out his iPhone and shows how easily he can access their blog and, within seconds, be perusing Sherwood-area homes for sale, watching video featuring the unscripted comments of typical customers or simply be pulling in RMLS-type information in particular properties.
“We give them ideas and, being on the Web, we give them pictures,” says Amber. “It’s not necessarily about ‘Woo-hoo, another victory!’ It’s more like ‘what was your experience like?’”
To get those authentic-sounding comments from regular folks, the Gardners employ another Sherwood professional, Burn it Studio, to gather the video – “just to kind of embrace that local issue,” says Amber.
“We’ve been re-evaluating our business as we go along,” she explains. “We were wanting to find a way to create a more positive buzz about what’s going on.
“So now,” she insists, “They’re getting that face-to-face interaction.”
The Gardners, armed with a combined 20 years working in technology, also make their blog’s podcasts easily accessible on You Tube, iTunes, Yahoo, Facebook and several other popular sites favored by Internet surfers.
“People say, ‘I saw you guys on You Tube,’ ‘I saw you guys on iTunes,’” says Amber. “It just kind of juices your batteries.”
“And right now, as a testimonial to this, we’re not struggling in this market,” says Jason. “We’re doing better than ever.”
Originally from California, Amber hails from Red Bluff by way of Springfield, and Jason is from Huntington Park, in L.A., but he moved to Cave Junction years ago. They met in 1997 “at a friend’s baby shower in Eugene,” they laugh. Married in Jamaica in 2000, they have three kids, ages 3 to 14 — “and they’re all in Sherwood schools,” says Amber.
Though Jason has been in real estate “almost nine years,” the pair have been operating out of the John L. Scott office at 20649 S.W. Roy Rogers Road for more than three years now.
About two-thirds of the homes they handle are in Sherwood, they say. The rest of their business comes from Tigard, Tualatin, Wilsonville and Newberg.
“We’ve been in Sherwood since 2000, and we’ve owned five Sherwood homes,” she boasts – “in all parts of town.”
