Tigard chiropractor writes holistic scoliosis book

After diagnosing a 13-year-old girl with scoliosis, Tigard resident and chiropractic physician Veronica Esagui realized there had to be a holistic approach to reversing the disabling spine curvature caused by scoliosis.

She wasn’t a fan of telling her patients surgery was the only option and had personal experience of getting through a back injury herself without resorting to an operation or drugs.

She had helped patients in the past by offering personal tips on specific exercises, diets and ergonomics that had proved to help prevent continued curvature of the spine. But it wasn’t until she had had to catch a young patient from fainting after the girl saw an X-ray of her warped spine, that Esagui started putting her ideas down in a book.

Called the “Scoliosis Self-Help Resource Book,” the book, published in August, is what Esagui refers to as “The Esagui Scoliosis Protocol” – a series of everyday spine exercises coupled with a holistic approach to life.

“When I first started writing the book, I was just doing it for my patients,” Esagui said. “But then it started getting bigger and bigger, and I figured I might as well publish it.”
