Normally, the opening of a new business in Tualatin would be greeted with cheers.
But Randy Kaiser isn’t planning on the city giving Stars Cabaret at Bridgeport a ribbon-cutting ceremony when it opens for business Nov. 18.
The public discussion about the popular chain of “adult entertainment clubs,” more commonly referred to as strip clubs, seems to have died down in recent months. But it was just a year ago that many in the city were immersed in a campaign to stop the club from setting up shop in the old Out of the Blues restaurant at 17939 S.W. McEwan Road.
Opponents, including Mayor Lou Ogden, business owners and city councilors, said they worry that the club would bring additional crime to Tualatin and be a burden on the police department.
After a year of controversy, arguments, headaches and an unsuccessful campaign against approving the business a liquor license, Kaiser, co-owner of the Stars chain, is confident that the opening will finally happen on Nov. 18.
