Leading the way for the Sherwood girls was junior Katie Patterson, who made it all the way to the semifinal round of the Class 5A girls singles championship bracket and ended up placing fourth.

Patterson started the tourney by scoring a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kelsey Pellegrino of Klamath Union in an opening round match. In the second round, Patterson upset No. 4 seed Alice Briant of Crook County by a 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) score.

In the quarterfinals, Patterson posted another straight-set win as she defeated Alyssa Adkisson of Churchill 7-5, 6-1.

Patterson’s winning streak ended in the semifinals as she fell 6-0, 6-0 to No. 2 seed Allison Bostrom of Crescent Valley. In the third-place match, Patterson fell to Northwest Oregon Conference foe Yulia Magid of Liberty, the No. 3 seed, by a 6-0, 6-2 margin.
