TUALATIN – Take three of the top high school girls soccer programs from the state of Oregon.
Then take three of the top high school girls soccer programs from Washington.
Put it all together and you’ve got two competitive days of high-quality girls soccer action. In other words, you’ve got the Tualatin Girls Soccer Classic.
The event, which will feature Tualatin, Lincoln and Westview high schools from Oregon, as well as Eastlake, Issaquah and Skyline high schools from Washington, will be held Friday and Saturday at Tualatin High School.
“Everyone is super excited to get this competition going,” said Tualatin High School girls soccer coach Rossano Rocha, who came up with the idea for the event. “We see it as a great way to raise the level of play of high school sports.”
All six of the teams participating in the classic come into the event with impressive credentials.
On the Oregon side, Lincoln is the two-time defending Class 6A state champion. Tualatin, meanwhile, claimed state championship gold in both 2005 and 2006.
Westview doesn’t have any state championships, but the Wildcats did reach the 2008 Class 6A state title match, where they fell 1-0 to Lincoln.
