Chelsea Biglow already has a very impressive high school softball career.
Last week, the Tigard High School senior took her first step toward what she hopes is an accomplished-filled college softball career.
Biglow, during a ceremony held at Tigard High, signed a national letter of intent to play college softball at Colorado State University, located in Fort Collins, Colo.
“This has been so exciting,” Biglow said. “This has been my goal for a long time. Now I have it all taken care of – no worries.”
Biglow has been a three-sport standout at Tigard High, excelling for the Tiger volleyball and girls basketball teams. But it’s been on the softball diamond where she really left her mark.
Last year as a junior, Biglow, a third baseman, was named the Pacific Conference Player of the Year and she was a Class 6A all-state first-team selection. She’s hoping for more success in the spring of 2010 as a Tigard senior.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” she said. “It’s going to be exciting.”
Then, it’s off to Colorado State University.
“It’s a lot like Oregon. It looks like Bend,” she said. “And I love the coaches there. The program is building and it’s exciting to be a part of it.”
Biglow said she’ll likely continue to play at third base at CSU, and she knows she’s going to have to put in a lot of hard work to be ready to play at the next level.
“I’m going to have to do a lot of running,” she said with a laugh. “And playing at the altitude will be a challenge. But it will be fun.”
