Wolves, Hawks win softball openers

The Tualatin and Horizon Christian high school softball teams picked up wins in their season-openers on Tuesday.

The Timberwolves scored an 11-0, five-inning win over Milwaukie in a game played at Milwaukie High School.

Junior MG Bywater pitched a no-hitter for Tualatin in the victory.

Junior Shelby Burke led the offensive attack, going 3-for-3 at the plate. Bywater and sophomore Taryn O’Neill each went 2-for-2.

Horizon Christian won 6-1 at Salem Academy on Tuesday.

Anna Dempster was the winning pitcher for the Hawks, recording 12 strikeouts.

Liz Caron drove in a pair of runs to pace the offense. Kylee Phillips added an RBI and Gracie Dempster hit a triple.
