MOUNT HOOD — The Tigard High School boys ski team finished its season in a big way, turning in a top-10 finish in the combined team standings at the Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association state championships, held March 3-5 at Mt. Hood Meadows.
The Tigers finished in ninth place in the combined standings, which includes results from the slalom and giant slalom events with a total team time of 10 minutes, 37.30 seconds.
The Hood River Valley boys captured the combined state team title with a mark of 9:34.02.
The Tiger boys were at their best in the giant slalom event at state, where they placed seventh in the team standings with a two-run time of 6:01.88.
Corey Myers led the way for Tigard in the giant slalom competition at state. He placed ninth in the individual standings for the event with a mark of 1:54.30.
Also for the Tigers in the giant slalom, Sam Fusick was 28th at 2:02.78, Taylor Gentry was 35th at 2:05.11, Dan Millar was 45th at 2:08.71 and John Sarvay was 53rd with a mark of 2:12.99.
The Tigard boys placed 14th in the state team standings in the slalom even with a two-run total time of 4:35.42.
